Ender arrives on Lusitania in 3150 AX, which launches the events of the second novel in the Ender Saga, Speaker for the Dead. This lines up with the start of the Lionsgate timeline, but the story is much longer in the books than in the movie. The First Formic War starts in 87 BX, which is 2115 AD. We have since institutionalized maneuver warfare into the Marine Corps. Instead of using the Gregorian calendar, the years on the franchise's Wiki database have the suffixes "BX" and "AX," which are shortened versions of "Before Xenocide" and "After Xenocide." The story of Ender's Game takes place between 87 BX and 315o AX in the books. Ender’s Game was published at the same time Marines started reading The Maneuver Warfare Handbook. However, the timeline for the books appears to use a completely different system. Ender is one of the most compelling (and messianic) young protagonists since Harry Potter hit the big screen. The timeline for the movie stretches back to before Ender's birth, with the first Formic alien invasion happening between 21. Before the movie adaptation of Ender's Game was released, Lionsgate published a timeline of events in the movie universe, stating that Ender goes to Battle School in 2195 and is promoted to lead Dragon Army in 2198, with the climax of the movie happening in 2201. An exercise in uneven film-making and poor adaptation, Ender's Game is a frustrating science fiction film that never lives up to its potential, and often doesn't even hint at it. While the story takes place in the future, the movie and the books follow different timelines.
